Where are you from?

Originally I’m from San Diego, CA but I grew up in Little Rock. So Arkansas is home. I have the accent to prove it, haha! ;-D I attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway where I earned my Bachelors in Psychology (2002) and Masters in Counseling Psychology (2004).

Tell us about your practice?

I started my practice, Abound Psychological Services PLLC, in 2012 after having worked for State, private-owned, and non-profit organizations for several years. No question my experiences with those organizations have taught me a lot and paved the way for me to branch out on my own. In my practice, I work with children (babies through teens) and their families and individuals. While I enjoy the collaboration of the therapeutic process, I particularly enjoy psychological assessments and helping individuals and families get answers to hard questions. If I had to say I specialize in anything, it would definitely be in the assessment of developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, specific learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities and developmental delay. From a therapeutic standpoint, I primarily take a cognitive-behavioral approach. But, I also love to incorporate Play Therapy techniques when working with children and their families. I’ve also had continued training in Trauma-Focused CBT and enjoy helping children and families heal from their traumas.

What are your hobbies?

Hobbies? Ha! Right now, I’m just trying to keeping up with a “threenager" and an infant. I love this stage they’re in and I’m trying to soak it all in before it’s gone, but they definitely take all of my free time. So my hobbies are their interests: playing with sand and “snow” dough and play dough, painting, coloring, going to the library/reading, etc. As they get older, I hope to get back into cycling (something I had just started before they arrived). I have also recently rediscovered my artistic side (painting); I’d love to do more of it too. And not exactly a hobby…but, I LOVE shoes and shoe shopping!

Why did you choose to become part of the network?

I chose to be a part of the network out of necessity, initially. I was a one-person operation and unable to reach my goals working the way I was - working hard, but not smart. I knew something needed to change. Since being a part of the network, not only has my business grown, but I have been able to give the attention my clients deserve.
